Microneedling

Microneedling is a minimally invasive procedure that employs fine, sterile needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin. This process stimulates the body’s natural wound-healing response, promoting collagen and elastin synthesis to enhance skin texture, tone, and firmness. It is effective in improving the appearance of fine lines, acne scars, enlarged pores, and pigmentation irregularities, and can be precisely targeted for the treatment of deep wrinkles or localized scarring.

Lily uses Dermapen, the highest quality FDA approved and CE marked medical microneedling device. The treatment involves a bespoke facial alongside the microneedling procedure which includes serums, a chemical peel and hydrating mask. The products used will be bespoke to you, based on your skin and specific concerns/aims of the treatment. 

Microneedling results can last several months, depending on your skin type, concerns, and aftercare routine. Maintenance treatments every 4–6 months can help extend your results and keep your skin looking fresh, firm, and revitalised.

Microneedling typically involves minimal downtime, making it a convenient option for many. Right after the treatment, you may experience some redness and sensitivity, usually subsides within 24 to 72 hours. Some flaking or dryness can occur as the skin begins to heal and renew. Most people return to normal activities the next day, though it’s best to avoid heavy workouts, sun exposure, and certain skincare products for a few days to support optimal recovery.

Micro-needling should not be painful. When done by an experienced clinician who understand the required needle depth and speed required for the area and skin concern being targeted the needling procedure is very tolerable. People often describe it as a tingling, buzzing sensation against the skin and Lily will check in throughout the treatment to ensure you are comfortable. 

Microneedling is a safe and low-risk treatment when performed by a trained professional. However, like any skin procedure, there can be some temporary side effects. The most common include redness, slight swelling, sensitivity, and mild pinpoint bleeding immediately after the treatment. These effects usually subside within a few hours to a couple of days. Less commonly, some people may experience dryness, flaking, or minor breakouts as the skin heals. Following aftercare instructions carefully helps minimize side effects and supports a smooth recovery.
